The figure is either walking towards you or away – this is open to your interpretation and deliberate.
There are multiple layers of texture giving the painting a depth that the figure is moving through. The concept is that whether coming or going the direction to elsewhere can be in any direction. The journey to elsewhere can be frightening and hence the darker background and surreal depiction of the surroundings. However, it can also be magical and so the path and figure are created from glitters so that they sparkle and shine as a light in the darkness.
I am moving towards elsewhere, focusing on my writing and painting, but I don’t know where that is yet, but I’m trying to stay on the sparkling path and not get lost in the darkness.
